Human Recognition Systems deploys facial recognition system at Edinburgh Airport

Human Recognition Systems has deployed its MFlow Journey facial recognition system at the Edinburgh Airport.

The new system, set to go live presently and has been installed to measure the journey time of the 13,000 passengers who pass through security at the airport every day.

As we’ve previously reported in BiometricUpdate.com, the MFlow system utilizes passive facial recognition technology to track and measure the flow of people, providing real-time passenger journey and queue measurement information to help reduce wait time and bottlenecks.

Edinburgh Airport’s decision to engage HRS in the delivery of this world-leading solution follows the successful implementation of MFlow Journey at other Global Infrastructure Partner operated airports, including London Gatwick and London City Airport.

“Without doubt, biometrics is playing an ever more important role within the aviation industry. Advanced new systems are helping to improve airport safety and security as well as support new products and services which will make air travel a faster, simpler and more enjoyable experience,” Graeme Agnew, Head of IT at Edinburgh Airport said. “Following the successful implementation of MFlow Journey, we look forward to working with HRS to explore how biometric technology can also benefit passengers in other areas of the airport.”

Reported previously, Human Recognition Systems has recently appointed two new members to its board: Nigel Seddon, the company’s Finance Director, and Simon Loveridge from Capital Values Group.

The company also recently secured new contracts for the London Olympic Park and Athletes’ Village.
